{"id":19614,"date":"2025-12-01T12:25:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T11:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.heatcom.dk\/lynx-helicopter-glamping-pod-heating-raf-wainfleet\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T12:02:23","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T11:02:23","slug":"lynx-helicopter-glamping-pod-heating-raf-wainfleet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heatcom.dk\/tr\/lynx-helicopter-glamping-pod-heating-raf-wainfleet\/","title":{"rendered":"Lynx Helicopter Glamping Pod Heating, RAF Wainfleet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Goal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the former RAF Wainfleet site in Lincolnshire, local farmer and site owner <strong>Will Roughton<\/strong> set out to convert a decommissioned <strong>Westland Lynx military helicopter<\/strong> into a fully functioning glamping pod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aircraft \u2014 once used by the British Army for more than 40 years \u2014 is being repurposed as a unique holiday attraction alongside a renovated 1970s control tower and three restored RAF bunkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He needed a <strong>compact, reliable heating system<\/strong> that could keep the small internal space warm in colder months, fit within the aircraft structure, and operate efficiently for holiday let turnover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Solution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through our subsidiary <strong>Heatmat<\/strong>, Heatcom Group specified a <strong>150 W Combymat electric heating system<\/strong> ideal for the tight, curved interior of the helicopter body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>3.0 m\u00b2 of 150 W Combymat<\/strong>, delivering a total output of 450 W<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>6 mm foam insulation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>6 mm plywood sub-base<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Electrical conductive tape<\/strong> for secure fitting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>WiFi-enabled NGTouch thermostat<\/strong>, allowing remote control by the owner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heating mats were installed over foam insulation to reduce heat loss, with laminate flooring planned as the final finish.<br>The WiFi thermostat gives Will the ability to adjust temperatures remotely based on guest arrival times \u2014 a key advantage for glamping operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The materials were supplied by <strong>7Core Electrical Wholesale (Skegness)<\/strong> and installed by <strong>Homestead Property Lets Ltd.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Result<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The helicopter pod now features a warm, comfortable interior space that highlights the original cockpit controls and houses a sofa-bed, mini fridge, and TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heatmat\u2019s system provides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>reliable warmth in a small, highly unconventional space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>low running costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>remote management via NGTouch WiFi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>suitability for holiday accommodation cycles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heatcom Group \u2014 through Heatmat \u2014 has supplied underfloor heating for many unique glamping-style structures, including shepherd huts, cabins, holiday homes, and bespoke installations like this one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At RAF Wainfleet in Lincolnshire, Heatcom Group \u2014 through its subsidiary Heatmat \u2014 supplied a 150 W Combymat heating system for a glamping-style Lynx helicopter conversion.
